Information for Preparation

VIEWING

There are two simple methods to view stereo photos without a stereo viewer. The easiest method is to take two small cards and cut a 1-1 1/2 inch hole in each card. Hold the cards in front of your eyes so that you see only the left image with your left eye and right image with your right eye. Stare at the screen and the images will soon merge to a 3-D image.
You can also place a flat hand in front of your face, separating the views of the left and right images. This technique takes a bit more practice, but requires nothing but your hand. With practice, you may get to where you can veiw the 3-D image without any aids.
The following examples include exagerated images to make the 3-D effect a bit easier for those with little experience to see the effect.
BDM-1102 (30mm)
The BDM-3869 is a composite of (A) a properly rotated stereo and (B) an exagerated stereo.
BDM-3863 (17cm) shows a larger specimen and shows the difference in (A) flat lighting and (B) lighting to better illustrate the topography.
