Information for Preparation | ||
CALL FOR PAPERSA fossil preparation and collections symposium will be held at Petrified Forest National Park near Holbrook, Arizona from April 10th through 12th 2008. The symposium will include both invited and volunteered platform and poster presentations, workshops, as well as a field trip through the park. Fossil preparators and collections professionals from throughout the world are invited to attend the conference and present papers about any aspect of care and preservation of fossil resources. Of particular interest are presentations on preparation, imaging, casting/molding, exhibition and conservation techniques, to compliment a day of hands on workshops. The papers may be given as either platform or poster presentations. If you are interested in giving a presentation please provide your name, any coauthors names, and contact information along with a 100-200 word abstract. Please indicate whether you wish to have a platform talk or poster presentation. Platform talks will be in Powerpoint format. Information regarding registration will be announced in the near future. The deadline for submitted abstracts is Friday, February 8th, 2008. Petrified Forest National Park was established in 1906 to protect petrified wood and other fossils from the Upper Triassic Chinle Formation in northeastern Arizona. However, the park also contains hundreds of significant cultural sites as well as a diverse modern ecosystem.
